The City of Sinton – population 5,679 – is the County Seat of San Patricio. Strategically located in the geographical center of the county, most of San Patricio’s county offices are located in Sinton. These include: the courthouse, sheriff’s office, jail, appraisal district, health department, Civic Center, fairgrounds, drainage district, extension office, farm service agency and one of two county airports. In addition, Sinton serves as the area office for several state departments including and the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Department of Transportation. San Patricio County Courthouse is the city’s historic downtown the center of county government administration. Steel Dynamics is the newest industry to Sinton, Texas with an announced $1.9 billion steel plant.
Shopping, Dining and Services
Residents and visitors enjoy a variety of retail outlets, restaurants and services. The city provides the necessities such as three grocery stores (H-E-B, Dollar General and Family Dollar), gas stations, a fitness center, a compounding pharmacy, legal services and two private practice doctor’s offices. It also provides luxury accommodations such as a fine jewelry store, banks, antique stores, a custom machine shop, auto shops, aviation services, bail bondsmen, clothing stores, car washes, and a variety of restaurants (American, Chinese, Mexican cuisine), banquet rooms and party halls. Within the city limits are facilities that can hold in excess of 10,000 people.
Quality of Life
Annual events that take place in Sinton include the San Patricio and Aransas Counties Agriculture and Homemaking Show, The County Queen’s Contest, the Illuminated Christmas Parade and Avenue of Trees, Sinton Homecoming Parade, Achiever’s Banquet, Kiwanis Club Car Show, Rotary Club Spaghetti Dinner and numerous other church and civic events. The city regularly hosts professional and amateur rodeos at its state-of-the art arena and show barn and plays host each year to the American Kennel Club county dog show.
The City of Sinton is the fourth most populated city in San Patricio County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,679 people, approximately 8.25% of the county’s total population.
