Festivals & Annual Events
San Patricio and Aransas Counties Agriculture & Homemaking Show and Auction – January
Each year tens of thousands of students, their families and their farm animals descend upon Sinton for a week-long competition for stock and showmanship. The San Patricio and Aransas Counties Livestock Show and Auction, or simply the A&H Show, is one of the longest standing annual attractions around, with close to a million dollars in projects sold at auction each year.
Alongside award winning show animals, the A&H Show has incredible shopping experiences that only a show of this kind can offer. More than 50 clothing retailers and craft vendors fill the fairgrounds show barn with clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry, power tools, and more. You can even buy a brand new car right off the fairgrounds parking lot! In addition, a carnival sets up right on site, a favorite among children and tweens.
Students who participate in the A&H Show either raise or create projects, which are then judged in the show ring amid competitors of all ages and from all cities. From steers, to hogs, to shop and mechanical projects, to cakes and paintings, the A&H Show offers a healthy, competitive activity for children of all interests and capabilities through partnerships with local FFA and 4-H clubs. The A&H Show teaches dedication, sacrifice, responsibility and respect for land, cattle, country and fellow man.
Following the A&H Show, the carpet is rolled out, the boots get shined and the auction floor opens for business. The auction pit features a buffet for buyers, and family and friends enjoy seeing the success of those students who won ribbons and made the sale.
When night falls, everyone makes their way over to the Events Center for a concert and cold beer, to conclude the festivities.
